Wat Mahathat, Ayutthaya : Thailand


Wat Mahathat was the home of the Supreme Patriarch, a powerful religious force in Ayutthaya temple (under a different name) is created by Queen Rachathirat I received the current name around 1374 during the reign of King Ramesuan (R. 1388 -. 1395).
Today, central prang (tower) of the temple is ruined brick. Before collapsing in the reign of King Song Tham (R. 1610-1628) and was repaired during the reign of Chao following King Prasat Thong (R. 1629-1656) reconstruction of the prang to 44 meters and 50 meters.
